On October 10, 2012, the UN Women Global Civil Society Advisory Group (GCSAG) met for the first time.

[New York, September 17, 2012] UN Women and the GEAR Campaign co-convened a meeting to discuss Civil Society engagement on the Post 2015 Development Agenda.

[New York, May 29, 2012] GEAR Campaign representative, Sharon Bhagwan-Rolls, Executive Director of femLINKpacific, presented the campaign statement at the annual UN Women Executive Board meeting.

[New York, March 3, 2012] Mabel Bianco, GEAR Focal Point, organized this meeting of the women’s organizations with Bachelet for her to present her suggestions and proposals after the first year of administration of UN Women, and to consider the membership of the Regional Civil Society Advisory Committee.

[New York, December 5, 2011] GEAR Campaign representative, Charlotte Bunch of the Center for Women’s Global Leadership (CWGL), presented the campaign statement at the second UN Women Executive Board meeting.

[New York, February 27, 2011] Women’s movements and women’s rights advocates have reason to cheer and celebrate the launching of the UN Women. In the entire history of the United Nations, it is the only entity that was primarily createdin response to the worldwide clamor and mobilization of women’s movements!

[New York, February 26, 2011] UN Women’s Executive Director met with women from civil society from Latin America and the Caribbean who are members of the GEAR Campaign. The group presented their regional priorities and asked that all women be taken into account in the consultations for the new United Nations Entity for Gender Equality’s Strategic Plan.

[New York, February 11, 2011] The Huairou Commission is organizing a global delegation of 50 grassroots women and their NGO partners from 27 countries to participate in the upcoming UN Commission on the Status of Women.
